Things Go Better With ...

These are the things that I know go better with Coke: early onset of obesity, dental cavities, caffeine-fueled anxiety, lowered bone density, and an ethically and aesthetically bankrupt culture that has been bullied into believing that it's perfectly natural to be assaulted by relentless marketing and advertising that preys primarily on society's youngest, most poorly educated, politically weakest, and most vulnerable elements.

Wayne Henderson & Freedom Sounds: Things Go Better
Trombonist (and one-time Jazz Crusader) Henderson is the man who pulls this fantastic version of the Coca-Cola jingle together, though it's the flautist, James Benson, who really sends it into the stratosphere. I'd recommend buying it as part of the super-good bargain double-cd of Sonny Sharrock's "Black Woman" paired with Henderson's "People Get Ready." Such a deal!

This Weekend in Atlanta:
The in-laws are coming! I'm thinking of sending them to Underground Atlanta's "World of Coke," where visitors sit through propagandistic videos, chug little cups of bubbly sugar water from all over the world (or at least the parts of the world that Coke as colonized and exploited) and have the opportunity to have their wallets plundered for Coke-related "souvenirs." That'll serve 'em right for barging in on my Father's Day Weekend!

And on Saturday night, don't forget to stop by the Indie Craft Experience at Eyedrum, where you'll have the opportunity to be tag-teamed by the indie-crafty Pettersons (Christy will be showing her wares, while hubby Davis will be manning the skins with DP3).
